The map below shows river health for from Paige Road to Rt. 301 assessed by the Sweepers in 2018. We define health as – the ability to maintain its structure (organization) and function (vigor) over time in the face of external stress (resilience). An example of an external stress would be flooding.
Sweepers use GPS units to assess health using the following metrics:
- Bank Erosion
- Bank Cover
- Bank Geometry
- Bank Height
- Bank Cover Invasive Species
Totals for these variables are shown as red, yellow, and green. Red means the river has low resilience to stress. Yellow means moderate resilience. Green means high resilience.
In addition, the location of logjams on the river was of interest to some in Caroline County. The map below shows these locations.
