In 2019, we begin new Campaigns in the Shenandoah and Tennessee Rivers Basins. Working with the Friends of the Middle River (FOMR), we will take a year to assess the ~ 50 mile navigable portion of the river. Reconnaissance and assessment is one of the first steps in preparation for comprehensive remediation and this year for the first time we will see if we can train volunteers to do the assessment including a new scenic rivers component we will bolt on to the protocol with the help of Lynn Crump from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
In the Tennessee Rivers Basin, working with a host of Partners, we will finally begin clean up operations on the Clinch River as it flows through and by Russell and Scott Counties. The Clinch Cleanup will be the largest river cleanup project ever attempted on the East Coast of the U.S.
